2017 Sea Bird Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills
The Chardonnay to serve anyone who says “I hate California Chardonnays”. Fragrant aromas of pear, honey, stone fruit and figs. Pure flavors of white pear, golden apple, lemon zest, and honey greet the palate with some hints of Asian spice in the finish. Enjoy it on its own as an aperitif or pair it with shellfish, sea bass, or herbed grilled chicken breasts.
This white wine is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown in the Sta. Rita Hills AVA of Santa Barbara County, where coastal fog and breezes are coaxed along the east-west hills creating a micro-climate well suited for this varietal. Taking care to preserve the astounding quality of these grapes, the wine is made using traditional, small batch winemaking techniques from Burgundy, including whole cluster pressing, barrel fermentation, and battonage.
